Fola And Haley: A Friendship Story

…Turning Point… The Big Deal

January 2020 makes it exactly 6 months since I got back from Madison Wisconsin, where I had my Mandela Washington Fellowship.
I have had several instances where I shared my Fellowship experience but not once have I mentioned the one that gave me the 360 degrees turn around and just how it did that publicly.
A few months ago, I shared this story with a friend I met while on tour Wisconsin Radio, she agreed it was really deep and yesterday. I saw another friend tag me the story.
Truth of the matter is am a changed person, and it’s because MWF broadened my horizon, I met a large number of great people, important personalities but seeing myself through Haley’s eyes changed the narrative for me.
Haley is a young girl of about 9 or 10 years old living with Down Syndrome, yet Haley is the sweetest soul I have ever met. We connected in a way that transcends my understanding. She is full of life and a delight to hang out with.
Volunteering at Gigi’s Down Syndrome Achievement Center last Summer was totally worth it. Julia Meyers God bless you for the great work you did @ Gigi’s. Your passion for the kids, your energy and your love to special kids is second to none Julia.
Lesson Learnt
* Never look down on anyone, anywhere, anytime.
* There is no telling who might be watching; put your good leg forward all the time. First impressions matter and a lot too.
* Wear a great smile and be Kind, be Kind, I repeat be Kind to others.
I left Madison 6 months ago and today, they all heard my name again on radio, they heard my voice again. They whole of Wisconsin listened to ME, Heard my story. Because of the pointz listed above, remember to always put yourself out there, dont ever sell yourself short. When you abide by these points. The World will celebrate you.
